British Columbia Provincial Nomination Program March 2021 Draw Update

British Columbia Issues 95 Invitations in its latest Tech Pilot Draw and also announced that it is going to extend Entrepreneur Immigration (EI) Regional Pilot till 31 March 2024.

So far in 2021, British Columbia invited 2,535 Immigration Candidate to Apply for a Provincial Nomination.

BC Held this draw through its British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP), under two categories like Express Entry BC and Skills Immigration.

Candidates those invited were from subcategories like International Graduate & Skilled worker and candidates should also have a minimum provincial score of 80.

British Columbia Tech Pilot operates through BC’s existing provincial immigration streams and it is a fast-track immigration pathway for in-demand International student and IT workers.

About Tech Pilot?

British Columbia PNP Tech Pilot is an Immigration Pathway for candidates who have tech skills and seeking to become a Permanent Residents of Canada. In order to be eligible for this province, candidates should register in one of British Columbia’s existing provincial immigration streams and should have a valid job offer of at least 12 months in one among 29 eligible Tech Pilot’s Occupations.

Tech Pilot job offer should be for a minimum of 12 months with at least 120 days remaining at the time of application to British Columbia, unlike the other British Columbia PNP Streams which requires a permanent job offer. The candidate should also have a full time job offer from an eligible employer from that province and the job offers more than one year are also eligible under this pilot program.

Invitations will be sent to the top scoring candidates who fulfill the eligibility requirement through this Province’s tech pilot.

Candidates who received an invitation to apply for Provincial Nomination will have 30 days of time to submit a complete application and once the candidate submits his application it will be processed mostly within two to three months of time. Once the application is approved, a candidate will get a nomination confirmation which can be used to apply for Permanent Residence from IRCC under Provincial Nominee Class.

How to apply for British Columbia PNP Tech Pilot?

The Tech Pilot project was launched in May 2017 after a study of Labour Market in BC which found the biggest issue of accessing the talent, so this tech pilot was created to support the tech sector’s growth by making it easier and faster for workers with in demand skills to migrate to British Columbia.

As Tech Pilot is not a separate stream of British Columbia PNP, candidates those who wish to apply should first create a profile through BC Province’s online portal i.e. Skill Immigration Registration System (SIRS) and should register under one of its existing categories.

Skill Immigration Registration System is a point’s based system which allows the British Columbia PNP to give priority to the candidates who have required skills and who can contribute to the economic growth of the province.

Eligibility for this Tech Pilot is based on candidates Job offer or Occupation. Candidates applications will be evaluated and will issue a score which determines whether the candidate will be invited to apply in a given invitation round or not and these score’s given will be based on multiple factors such as level of education, years of work Experience and British Columbia Job Offer.

About Entrepreneur Immigration- Regional Pilot?

It was launched in early 2019. The Entrepreneur immigration-Regional Pilot allows British Columbia to work in partnership with regional communities of less than 75,000 people to welcome approved immigrant entrepreneurs those who want to start a new business.

All Interested Entrepreneurs should obtain a community referral before registering for the regional pilot and should complete an exploratory visit to the community where they wish to start their business.

First the candidates are granted with a temporary work permit and then the province may issue the nomination for permanent residence once it determines that the business has met all the eligibility criteria outlined in performance agreement.

In this initial pilot phase a total of 65 communities have enrolled and once the restrictions on international travel are lifted the Province also expects many communities will welcome new entrepreneurs to their regions and help the region in recovering the economy post-pandemic.
